At my Make Money Gods Way website on April 12, This post came in:
I take issue with your statement “God is all about money, wealth and rewards.”
The God I worship is about Love and Service. Money, Wealth and rewards are tools to accomplish his will on earth for his glory.
Basically, what the post is saying when the author uses the word “Tools” is that all money is God’s, and we MUST return it. Otherwise, why is it a tool?
It is also implied that we’re not good Christians if we don’t return it all.
The only part of the author’s statement that I do agree with is that God uses Rewards to accomplish his will on the earth. Without a reward, there is no incentive for doing his will. We wouldn’t do it; no one would!
Free Will means we have a choice. We can do things one way, or another. God obviously wants us to do thing his way. But he knows that we need an incentive to do so. Anyone will tell you, there are only two ways to motivate people to do something: Fear of Loss, or Desire of Gain. It is the “carrot or the stick.” Do you want to be whooped, or would you like some ice cream for doing your chores.
Now I suppose God could use the stick on us all the time. That is what the Hell, Fire, and Damnation message is all about.
I tend to think God is smarter than that. I think he uses the desire for gain as an incentive too.
But if he does, he can’t give us the reward, and then immediately pull it back again. That would be dumb. The next time he offers a reward for doing something his way, we’d say: “No thanks, God. I’ve been down that path before.” Who wants to do all the hard work and not have anything to show for it?
The reward is for us and our pleasure. We get to do with it what we want. More on this later…
